Christmas Ideas: Felt Ornament Round Up

While packing up my Halloween Tree (I'm a tad bit crazy when it comes to Halloween) it became fairly obvious that for Christmas ornaments had to be VERY kid friendly. I think my 2 year old would build a tree house and move into our tree if he could shrink to the right size. He also has ZERO clue about how to be gentle with my ornaments.

So this year we will be putting only unbreakable ornaments on our trees and what is more kid friendly than felt? I've been looking around and there are a million felt ornament tutorials out there. Here are some of my favorites.
(above photo collage created using photo mat by scrapping with liz)

1. Simple Christmas Felt Ornaments from Cards by Paula
2. Felt State Ornaments from In Between Laundry
3. Felt Lights from Wild Olive
4. Mommy and Baby Owl from The Vintage Umbrella
5. Felt Christmas Tree Ornaments from Bugs and Fishes
6. Winter House from Bits and Bobs
7. Holly Leaves from Bugs and Fishes
8. The Stable from Wild Olive
9. Polaroid Ornaments from Sew Mama Sew

Now is the perfect time to start on getting some of these done. I love the idea of maybe putting pieces of the boys past Christmas outfits into the polaroid ornaments...would be cute right?

How do you make your tree more kid friendly?

The Dallas Flea

This Saturday we headed to South Side on Lamar for The Dallas Flea.

There were a ton of vendors selling vintage and beautiful handmade items.
(can you spot the Munchman scoping out the wares?)
Munch was soon searching for an exit though. Maybe crafts and vintage treasures aren't his thing. Hmmm...
South Side on Lamar is a pretty narrow space and not the easiest to navigate with a stroller and two kids. While trying to look at all the wonderful items, I was reminded why I don't generally like to bring the kiddos along on these adventures.
I did get a couple goodies though.
Kayla of Cole Paper Co. was there and I purchased an L print for the boys art wall in their hallway and a pretty postcard with a Audrey Hepburn quote.
She was also advertising some beautiful personalized Christmas cards. I might have to see if she can do something similar that I could frame and have up year round.

Then I saw some amazing pumps at Jarma. I don't have anywhere to wear them...but I couldn't pass them up.
Love them.
I have a million things on my wish list now...hopefully I'll be able to purchase a couple at The Dallas Flea December event on December, 1st.
If ya want to read more about the event this past Saturday, check out my sister's blog Lavender and Pink. She got some amazing shots and wrote up some great reviews on some of the vendors that were there!

Funky Finds Spring Fling

Saturday we went to the Funky Finds Spring Fling. I love going and looking at all the amazing crafts and art that people come up with. Here are some of the goodies I came home with.

A t-shirt for Monkey Munch from XYFactory:
Onesie for Nox from Take Flight Boutique:
Spidey for Monkey Munch from Pegged: (She also does customized peg families....want...)
Pretty fabric necklace and matching felted earrings for me from Beat Art:
After enjoying the crafts we went next door to the Flea Market.

I was really tempted to buy this game, just for the fun box:
Monkey really loved this globe. It's super fun to spin :o)
AND I couldn't pass up these patterns for a dollar each. I know I don't have a girl, but I totally couldn't pass on Rainbow Bright.
And so ended an awesome crafty day.

My Boys...Tuesday

Oops! My Boys Monday hasn't really worked out the past two weeks. Better late than never I guess. Yesterday, my fabric for Lennox's room came in! I have to get some coordinating fabrics, but these are the main ones.
I'm for sure planning on a quilt and curtains...but I may branch out to more stuff if that goes well. I'm certainly open to suggestions!
On Saturday we ventured to The Funky Finds Spring Fling. There were a ton of great vendors. We got this onesie for Lennox from Burp Clothing, and I ordered a new and bigger diaper bag for both the boys (and me), which I'll show off the moment I get it. :o)

And here are my "big" boys looking for some good records at the flea market next door to Funky Finds.

A Note on Crafting-A-Long and Wish List Wednesday

In case you missed the comment from Holly here it is:

"...a craft-a-long is where we make a project together. someone is the "leader" and post a set of instructions periodically--could be weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, daily, or sporadically. "

Alisha and I kinda talked about it and decided that maybe we could start in January. We had mentioned doing one per month. The host could list the project on the 1st of the month and then it would be due on the last day of the month...the host could list a link to all the splendid completed projects then as well.

We also mentioned maybe doing a theme a month ahead. So for January we would do a Valentine type craft. February would be St. Patrick's and so on.
I was also playing around with the idea of having a kids craft-a-long every month too. Mostly because I love this one for Valentine's Day.

Anyway, that concludes my spill on Crafting-A-Long. Would love if we could do this. The more people the better!
And now for my Wish List Wednesday portion.
Kaiser needs a new doggie tag and I just love this one from Make Your Dog Smile.
Of course if he gets a new tag he should also get a new collar.
This one is from K-nine Couture and they also make leashes to match!

Found Craft: Cherry Shorts

I made these shorts when I first got my sewing machine. I just took apart a tight pair I had and added the cherry fabric, so nothing fancy. I found them while I was going through my clothes last week. I was actually surprised I could fit in them again!
I forgot how super comfy they are...I might have to make some more.

Found Craft: "Flopsy"

I haven't had much time to do anything crafty lately. I've been very busy packing, painting and going through boxes. The perk of going through boxes is that you never know what treasures you'll find. We found this doll at my mother's (soon to be our) house. We can't remember her name...so I'm calling her Flopsy...since that is what she is.
I knit her for my sister when I was 13 or 14. I had just learned to knit and found the pattern for her in a kids craft book. (Which I also hope to locate.) The stitches are to lose and she probably could have used a little more stuffing...but she was made with lots of love.
I gave her to Arianna during a Christmas we spent in England. Arianna didn't think that she would be warm enough with the clothes I made her....so my Grandmama made her a cute poncho and gloves.

And here is the rest of her wardrobe. The gray "skirt" she's wearing in the first picture is actually a dress and the vests I made go over that. I can't wait to see what other goodies I find.

Etsy Spring Bash....FINALLY!

First...here's a picture of Munch in his Scooby outfit I made him.

The Etsy Spring Bash was smaller than Funky Finds, but just as good. We saw some old favorites and a bunch of new and fun stuff too.
I got these charms made using scrabble pieces from http://karmacrochet.etsy.com/
I already have two necklaces that were made using the same idea, but I couldn't pass up the cherry and the camera.
John and I picked out a bunch of vinyl stickers from
http://www.one-updesigns.com/index.html
It was really hard to pick just ten. They will be great for crafting gifts with.

Finally I bought a shirt for John at http://www.dowdystudio.etsy.com/
He knows I got the shirt...just not which one so I'm showing you the stamp that's on the back of all their shirts. I will definately be buying from them again as there were a couple more that would make excellent gifts...I'll try to remember to take a picture of John wearing his when he gets it...I'm thinking for his birthday.

That's all for now. I'm working on a skirt for me and a toy for Munch, we are in the process of packing and moving right now so we'll see when those actually get done. I hope it won't be to long though.

Towel Buddies and Etsy Spring Bash

I made this page last night while organizing our photos. It was done using Mandy Made's Julia Kit.

I have two pairs of pants I'm working on for Lyndon. Hopefully I'll get at least one pair done before the Etsy Spring Bash. I finished fixing his Beatles pants...but haven't gotten a decent picture yet.

Funky Finds Spring Fling

We went to the Funky Finds Spring Fling this weekend.
I didn't get Lyndon's Beatles outfit fixed in time so he wore the cute pants that Alisha made him.
I got this T-shirt from http://xyfactory.com/

This is a koala from http://www.fuzzymuffins.net/ we've named him Mitch, because he's the cutest infestation ever!!!

And cherry switch plates for my new kitchen
It was lots of fun even if it was super hot. There were a ton of great crafters...and I even got a few good ideas for stuff I can make. I can't wait to go to the Etsy Dallas Spring Bash next month.
