My Middle at Seven

My middle man turned seven just a couple days after school started. Try as I might I could not convince him to stay six.

Nox hasn't changed much over the past year.

He loves math and learning about the way things work.

He is obsessed with Lego and will spend hours happily building. Nox would love to one day work for Lego as a Master Builder and I believe without a doubt that he could do it.

He loves his friends fiercely and looks forward to spending time with them. At the same time, he is very comfortable on his own and is quite pleased when he gets a moment to himself.

Nox is currently taking Gymnastics with Munch and loving it. His coach says they are the best-behaved boys she has had and that Nox is such a tough little guy.

He is in his second year of Cub Scouts and it's so much fun to see how excited he is about it. He loves all the activities and adventures he gets to go on with his Dad and brother. I am so proud of him.

Nox keeps his emotions right out in the open and has never had trouble letting people know exactly how he feels. More often than not he is the first one up in the morning. He doesn't give hugs like he used to, but he is still my sweet boy with the crooked grin and big heart.

Happy at Three

Happy turned three last week. THREE.

This kiddo has matured so much in just the past few months.

In Gymnastics he is no longer the example of worst behavior and instead the shining example of the correct way to do flips on Bar.

It is getting easier to reason with him, which makes life a whole lot easier.

We were discussing what we wanted to be at dinner the other night and Happy (who is usually uninvolved in discussions) told us that he wanted to be a fireman.

He loves dinosaurs, puzzles, his vintage fisher price town, playing hide and seek and his new balance bike.

He could watch Sarah and Duck, Moana, Mickey, and Rescue Bots on repeat all day and is warming to Sesame Street.

He loves to count and has pretty recently decided that singing is pretty cool too. He loves to dance to the records Daddy plays.

He has a temper like fire, sleeps almost as badly as his Mama, is stubborn and wild and amazing. His smile is brilliant, his eyes sparkle with mischief and his freckles have just started blooming across his cheeks and nose.

His current favorite phrase is "Mama, are you sure 'bout it?"
I never am, but this is a brilliant adventure we are on.

Blanket For Miss J

When my sister told me she was having a girl, she asked me to make my niece to be a blanket. Happy was a month old at the time and I was still trying to figure out the ins and outs of being a mother of three. Let's be honest...I'm not sure I'll ever master it.

I started the blanket that December in 2014.

I finished it December 26, 2016.

A project that should have taken two weeks tops, took me over 2 years.

BUT....if I had finished it 2 years ago, I wouldn't have gotten the thank-you hugs and snuggles and I wouldn't have gotten to see Miss J enjoy the blanket.
Sometimes procrastination is not a bad thing.

Currently: January 2017

Watching: American Horror Story.
We are currently in the second season. I enjoyed the first season more, but I like that it's a different story each season.

Reading: Tonight I plan to start My Beloved Brontosaurus by Brian Switek.
It snatched me up at the first line "I once was a dinosaur." I'm so happy my father gifted it to me for Christmas, the dinosaur loving kid in me can't wait to dig in.

Listening: Neil Gaiman: Where's Neil when you need him?
Another gift from my father and signed by Neil Gaiman this album is a collection of songs written by various artists and based around their favorite works of Neil Gaiman. Not all the songs are to my taste, but it's a fun listen and one I look forward to trying when I have a chance to listen and have a good look at the artists and notes from Mr. Gaiman.

Making: I just finished making a few things for Christmas, but I wasn't able to make Happy's stocking...and I'm now two years late on that project so I'll be trying to get that done before the end of the month.

Feeling: Like I'm coming down with something AGAIN, but we are starting Spark People again and we are going to stick with it. I haven't felt well for a long time now and I know it has to do with how we have been unhealthy couch potatoes for too long.

Planning: On turning the total chaos that is our home into a more organized chaos. It might be a laughable project with the three boys running around, but I'm going to give it a shot.

Loving: The weather today.
It felt like Spring and it was perfect day for our first walk of the year.
