2 Weeks and Counting

I've been completely MIA lately and with good reason. My last month of pregnancy was a little bit miserable and a lot busy as we readied the house for our newest little bundle. May 7th I went in for my regular weekly check up and the Doctor mentioned that it looked like the baby was winning. After two weeks of being told our little man would here super soon...I was MORE than ready. I told him I would have Silas that second if I could so we booked an induction for that Friday.
Munch was more than a little excited about meeting his littlest brother.

I felt a little guilty organizing his birth like that...almost like I was taking away something from him. BUT really, it ended up being perfect. The people we needed to be there were able to get there without any rushing. The BIG boys were well taken care of during (and after) labor/birth.
It was a completely stress free event. I went in, they drugged me and a few hours later I was presented with a gorgeous baby boy. His brothers adore him. They are constantly checking to make sure he is doing okay and growing well and they CANNOT wait until he's big enough to play with them.
I feel so lucky to be surrounded by such wonderful boys. It's going to be a crazy and wild adventure, but I'm looking forward to it.

12 Weeks

Today I am 12 weeks along with our third sweet baby.

We hadn't said a word to them about having another baby...and then at 7 weeks I had a bad morning. Munch decided I was very sick and needed to go to the doctor ASAP. Luckily, my first appointment was scheduled for that day. Munch was horrified during the sono and wanted to know if that was what was "going to make Mama dead". Poor sweet kiddo. Both boys were completely dumbfounded when we told them, that Mama was fine and we were going to have another baby. A million and one questions followed. They love looking at pictures of the baby's development every week and are fascinated by the size.

I had this plan in my head that we would keep it a secret until I was out of the first trimester. Munch and Nox had totally different ideas. They announced it to my mother shortly after my confirmation sono and then started telling perfect strangers. So we did a surprise announcement at Munch's Halloween Birthday Party, a couple weeks ago. It worked out brilliantly. I love seeing everyone's faces when they realized exactly what my shirt meant.
I am insanely tired, but not terribly sick which is awesome.

We heard the baby's heartbeat the other day. The doctor made sure that the boys got a good listen. I WISH I had gotten a picture of their jaws dropping. That sound is so wonderful and reassuring, might hit my top 10 list of sounds I love. I'm pretty sure the boys liked it almost as much as I did.

Butterflies

It's apparently been awhile since I've sat at my sewing machine. I had to make this simple dress twice. I almost threw my machine out the window. Although, to be fair, it was probably my ability to measure and cut correctly that was the problem.

Thankfully it worked out okay.

No machines were hurt and I still have a little of the beautiful butterfly fabric left in my stash.

Pink and Green

The problem with crocheting baby blankets is that I'm always torn of whether to sell them or not. They sometimes sit on my lap being worked on for a month or so. I get attached. I LOVE this one, it screams spring and it makes me so happy, even though it was so simple to make. Plus, the colors were my Mimi's favorite. My sister thinks I should hold on to it...until one of us has a girl. Watch I'll save it and neither of us will ever have girls. It's almost big enough to use as a throw.

What do you think? Keep or Sell?

Special Orders

Here are some special orders I completed recently.

The Mama to Be said she wanted to bring her baby girl home in this dress. :o)
With matching burp cloth and bib. ($38 for Dress/Burp Cloth/Bib Set)

Also made a set of 3 bibs ($15). LOVE the fabric I used!I have a few things for the boys on my list of things to do. Then I have to complete a special order for pillows and I have to refill my stock at The Enchanted Artist.
Also thinking about making a fan page on Facebook...just not sure if anyone would really be that interested.

3 Day Basket Collab with Crandallation

As I have mentioned previously my little sister is participating in the 3 Day Walk for the Cure. I'm SO super proud of her.
In hopes of raising a little money for the cause my best bud Alisha and I did a little collaboration and put together a girly gift basket. It will be sold at The Enchanted Artist and proceeds will go to The Pink Galas for 3 Day Walk for the Cure.
My additions are a bib, tag blanket, brag book and set of three burp cloths.

Here is the completed basket! To see a list of Crandallation's items check out her blog!
I want to thank every person walking for this cause and everyone who has made a contribution to help find a cure!!

Foto Friday - Look What I Can Make

Just thought I would add a quick post while I have a sleeping newborn and a behaving 23 month old. On August 30th I went into labor and had this little bundle. It was a super fast labor...I was in the hospital a short 4 hours before I delivered. My nurse had me breath through some of the last contractions just so my Dr. would make it to my room in time for the birth....My mother made it into the room on the last push!

I made him this cocoon for him from a knitting circle contraption I found in a stash of stuff from my aunt and the other day we had a little photo shoot.
And it took me almost 3 weeks but I finally finished the first page in Nox's baby scrapbook.

Cowboys, A Hippo and a Squirrel

These have all been sitting nicely in my dining room, pinned and ready to be sewn for weeks. I finally sat down and finished them last week.
Munch, checking his new shirt for any flaws:
Apparently Mama did okay. :o)
Of course I had to complete one for Nox too!
The smaller picture is an applique I put on the back; Munch's shirt has the same thing.
My mother-in-law bought a TON of these little snap t-shirts when I had Munch. He didn't wear them all that much, mostly because I thought little white t-shirts were a little boring, even if they are practical. Also it was a little cooler in October than it is in August.
ANYWAY...I decided to spruce them up a little.
Below is an acorn squirrel using a template I found at The Long Thread.
And here the hippo shirt. :o) You may recognize it from the shirt and pants I made Munch. I'm thinking I might make a pair of pants for Nox too.
Not sure how much more I'll get done before Nox gets here...Probably just some cutting and pinning. Would be nice to have some projects ready and waiting to be completed.
In the meantime, check out my new button on the right! Joy at The Small Fry was sweet enough to make it for me as a "baby gift." How sweet is she? Anyway I love it and would be honored if you put it on your site!

My Boys Monday - Bumpers and Mobile

All the stuff I was planning on making for the nursery got finished last week! It took me forever to figure out the mobile, but thankfully I ran across this tutorial over at Lolly Jane Boutique. I used Munch's old mobile and black and white pictures of Elvis, Chuck Berry, Bruce "The Boss" Springsteen and Jimmy Page. I also found some clip art of a record that fit perfectly over the music box and edited a cute little tape I found at Sj's Little Musings. Here is the close up.
Works well on 22 month olds, let's hope that it works just as well keeping a new baby entertained. :o) Also got the bumpers finished. I was a little worried about finishing these. I was thinking they were going to be a HUGE job. Thankfully the bumpers came with instructions on how to cover them, so I tweeked the instructions a little and they were finished in no time!
And that's it...just need to install the ceiling fan, put together a small shelving unit and we ordered a vinyl name sign for above the crib. Once that's complete I'll give you guys a full tour of the finished room...hopefully with baby included!!

Outfit for Munch and Baby Shower Gifts

Last week my sister-in-law and mother-in-law threw me a baby shower. Super sweet considering Nox is my second!
Had to make Munch an outfit for the occasion. I used the Big Butt Baby Pants Pattern again and made him a tie shirt to go with. He loves it, I promise...he was just ready to party!
We got some great handmade gifts...my favorite kind :o)
Alisha from Crandallation made me this cute newborn hat! Can't wait to model Nox in it!
She also made these adorable stroller tag toys! Aren't they fun?
Great-Grandma Bobby made Nox a cute little pillow and pillow case.
And this guy! She said we could name him whatever we wanted. Munch has decided that his name is "Guy". He keeps stealing Guy from the nursery though, so I think we might have to make another one!
Okay...a little closer to catching up now, but a lot more to come!! Including nursery items, a wreath and more! At least I've gotten all the pictures taken care of!

Good-Bye July and a Special Order

Just a tad distracted this month. ;o) So here is July...almost a week late.
Background, word art and spot embelishments from Freedom Mini by Devine Digital
Star Frame by Rachael
Also did a special order for a baby shower last month. Includes 3 burp cloths, a bib, a onesie and a binkie clip.
Made my first binkie clip. I plan on making a bunch for Nox...these are the only kind that ever worked with Munch.
Also planning on making a cowboy onesie for Nox and a cowboy shirt for Lyndon...cause I kinda love how this one turned out.
In other news I've completed the bumpers for the crib...just need a mattress so I can take pictures. Want to convert Munch's mobile into something Rock and Roll for Nox, but haven't quite figured that out yet. I'll totally welcome any ideas. :o)

Wish List Wednesday - Newborn Photo Props

I've been looking at newborn photos a lot lately. Part of me is sad that I didn't try to take some fun artsy photos of Munch...the other part cannot wait to start taking pictures of Nox.
There are so many props out there for people wanting to photograph newborns...I made a treasury on etsy to show off my personal favorites.

Scrappy Saturday

Well I was hoping to get more done, but instead I've been enjoying my off. I did manage to get two layouts finished though.
18 Week sono created using Free Spirit by Monalisasmiles

24 weeks created using Lavender Time (Part 2) by Ange, SEV and Allbina

Today I've been working on a couple special orders. I finished one and the second should be ready tomorrow. The crib is here and up so I'll be working on the bumper next. I don't think the lack of a mattress will cause any problems. Wish me luck!

Good-Bye June and a Couple Pregnant Pages

I decided that I will be making at least a bumper for the crib, so while I'm waiting for the stuffing to arrive I have a little time to do other things...like a couple orders I need to fill AND my pregnancy scrapbook. Should be pretty relaxing in comparison to what I've been doing.

First is my Good-Bye to June...a little late, but better late than never.
Good-Bye June completed using Tendre comme Papa kit from Imagine by Fran

Next up some pregnancy pages. I'm 32 weeks today and offically 8 months...SO, I have a TON to catch up on!!

Diaper Stacker

I finished the diaper stacker yesterday. I was super nervous about doing it, because I was working without a pattern for the first time. I used Lyndon's stacker as reference and went from there.
I can't believe how quickly it came together! Time will tell how sturdy it is, but it looks like it will hold up. I've already filled it with newborn diapers....I forgot how tiny they are! Not sure what's next, I'm trying to figure out if I want to make a crib skirt and bumper or just buy white ones. I have plenty of fabric still, but not so much time.

Curtains for Nursery

I finished the curtains for Lennox's nursery today. I decided to be lazy about it and just added fabric to black curtains that I had shortened.

Please forgive the lighting and the "beautiful" view. It's a rainy day and I can't hide the view until the desk is moved.
I totally love how they turned out. Next up...a diaper stacker, which should be interesting, because I'm working off a pattern I created using Lyndon's.

Blue

Put together a gift set for my cousin, who is expecting a boy next month.
This is one of the larger baby blankets I've made so far. It took me a little longer than usual, because I kept over heating. Probably will be taking a little break from blanket making...at least until the end of my pregnancy.

Pink

One of my cousin's just had a baby girl, so I'm sending her some goodies.
I made the dress below using the 10 minute onesie dress tutorial from Prudent Baby.
It seriously was the easiest thing I think I've ever made. My sister begged me to keep it and make another...but I pointed out that she doesn't have any children so that would be silly. Not sure she really believed me. She's a little bit of a cupcake freak. :o)
I also made this blanket. It's super girly in comparison to stuff I generally make...and I'm not a huge fan of pink so I had a hard time finishing it. In the end I think it turned out pretty well and strangely enough it's my largest baby blanket so far.
Finally, I'm going to include a bib and a set of cupcake burp cloths. Hope she likes everything!

My Boys Monday

I just finished Lennox's quilt. It's not perfect, but I think it turned out pretty well. I got the pattern for it at Sew4Home. It was pretty easy to follow and I only had one fight with it. Pretty easy fix though.
The instructions say "Place the ... backing fabric and the finished quilt top right sides together with the batting sandwiched in between. Pin in place through all three layers." I did this and when I went to turn it the batting was on the outside of the quilt :o/ Should have realized this was going to happen, but since I don't really make quilts I was paying more attention to the intructions than my brain.
ANYWAY...I took it apart and did this instead:
Place the backing fabric and the finished quilt top right sides together. Place batting on top of backing fabric and pin in place through all three layers.
The next project for the nursery is curtains. Should be an interesting adventure since I've never made curtains before.

Monkey Basket

Finally finished a boy basket I've been working on. I really like how it turned out. I was seriously tempted to keep the blanket, except then I wouldn't have a complete basket.
Here is the blanket:

I also made a set of 3 burp cloths, a tag blanket and a bib.

And here is the completed basket. I was thinking about making a matching onesie or something, but I think I'll call it done.
I have a request for a girl basket and have to put together another boy basket. Guess I'll have to do some shopping :o)
