Blanket For Miss J

When my sister told me she was having a girl, she asked me to make my niece to be a blanket. Happy was a month old at the time and I was still trying to figure out the ins and outs of being a mother of three. Let's be honest...I'm not sure I'll ever master it.

I started the blanket that December in 2014.

I finished it December 26, 2016.

A project that should have taken two weeks tops, took me over 2 years.

BUT....if I had finished it 2 years ago, I wouldn't have gotten the thank-you hugs and snuggles and I wouldn't have gotten to see Miss J enjoy the blanket.
Sometimes procrastination is not a bad thing.

Lucky Wreath

I don't usually decorate a whole bunch for St. Patrick's Day, but I found this pattern for crocheted shamrocks and couldn't resist.

I wrapped a dollar store wreath with some hemp rope I had, stuck the shamrocks on and voila a lucky wreath!

Here is a detailed picture:
I've got a few extras...so I'm thinking I'll make up a couple pins. Any other ideas?

Valentine's Day Wreath

Last year I got a heart shaped wreath on clearance. It took me until just last week to find it again. (note to self: please organize better)
Usually I kinda hate pink, but I had some pink yarn on hand and I decided for Valentine's Day I could make an exception.

I crocheted up a bunch of little hearts to add a little something.

They are perfect for using up my yarn remnants. I will be making a LOT more.

Pink and Green

The problem with crocheting baby blankets is that I'm always torn of whether to sell them or not. They sometimes sit on my lap being worked on for a month or so. I get attached. I LOVE this one, it screams spring and it makes me so happy, even though it was so simple to make. Plus, the colors were my Mimi's favorite. My sister thinks I should hold on to it...until one of us has a girl. Watch I'll save it and neither of us will ever have girls. It's almost big enough to use as a throw.

What do you think? Keep or Sell?

Blue

Put together a gift set for my cousin, who is expecting a boy next month.
This is one of the larger baby blankets I've made so far. It took me a little longer than usual, because I kept over heating. Probably will be taking a little break from blanket making...at least until the end of my pregnancy.

Pink

One of my cousin's just had a baby girl, so I'm sending her some goodies.
I made the dress below using the 10 minute onesie dress tutorial from Prudent Baby.
It seriously was the easiest thing I think I've ever made. My sister begged me to keep it and make another...but I pointed out that she doesn't have any children so that would be silly. Not sure she really believed me. She's a little bit of a cupcake freak. :o)
I also made this blanket. It's super girly in comparison to stuff I generally make...and I'm not a huge fan of pink so I had a hard time finishing it. In the end I think it turned out pretty well and strangely enough it's my largest baby blanket so far.
Finally, I'm going to include a bib and a set of cupcake burp cloths. Hope she likes everything!

Monkey Basket

Finally finished a boy basket I've been working on. I really like how it turned out. I was seriously tempted to keep the blanket, except then I wouldn't have a complete basket.
Here is the blanket:

I also made a set of 3 burp cloths, a tag blanket and a bib.

And here is the completed basket. I was thinking about making a matching onesie or something, but I think I'll call it done.
I have a request for a girl basket and have to put together another boy basket. Guess I'll have to do some shopping :o)

Baby Shower Gift

Went to a shower for my friend Melissa on Sunday and made these for her.

She doesn't know what she's having but she had a bunch of orange stuff on her registry and I just fell in love. I think it's perfect as a new green or yellow. I also can't help but love the bird fabric I bought.

Melissa's sister made this for her.
I grabed the pattern for it a long time ago at Joann's and was a scared to even try it. She said it was easy, so I may try now....or try something a little easier first. Joann's has a ton of easy little animal toys to try out.

Baby Blankets

My aunt is opening her store, The Enchanted Artist, on May 1st and she asked me to make a few things. One of those things was to crochet some baby blankets. So here are my first two:

One for a girl

One for a boy

AND one for my Lennox.
Not sure how much I'm going to ask for them yet, but they turned out well. Just hoping they sell!!

Pick a Scarf

For Christmas I made my sister's boyfriend Mark a pick bag. Which apparently was a wonderful idea because he's always losing his picks. The electric guitar is from a kit by Sublime Stitching.
To make the bag I used a tutorial for a snack bag by i have to say.

I also played with a new pattern I found and made this scarf for my father's girlfriend.
I PROMISE it was cleaned after my handsome pup modeled. I couldn't get the kid to stay still long enough or keep the scarf on long enough.

More to come later...provided I can find the pictures that I thought I took!

60 Year Old Blanket

Today I finished a throw blanket for my mother's 60th next week. My sister picked out the colors. At first I wasn't sure how much I would like them, but they look fantastic together. Part of me really wants to keep the blanket to myself.

On to the next project!! I'm thinking pillows for my living room and then starting on Christmas presents!

Spun Carnival Throw

It is entirely possible that my sister has lost her mind. She saw this throw at Anthropologie and decided that I was talented enough to make it for her.
I'm not sure if I should laugh because she's crazy (I promise I have no idea how to do half that many stitches) or if I should be proud of myself because someone thinks I'm just that good. I think I might have to give it a go...even if it's going to take me 100 years. It would at least be a decent learning experience.

Two New Stitches

I was told by my doctor to stay off my feet for a couple days...so I had lots of time on the couch. To keep the boredom from completely getting to me I decided to learn a couple new crochet stitches.

The first is a Cable Stitch.

Which I think I want to try as a blanket...

The next stitch is a Simple Net Ground.

I actually have some pretty brown and bronze yard that I think I'll make a shawl out of when I get the chance.

So many projects....so little time.....

Old Scarves, New Scarf

The pictures seem a little dark...but oh well...here are my scarves...not all of them, but a few.

Monet

NYC

Kristan (my newest creation)

The last one was the hardest. Not the stitch...just the switching of colors. One of my goals for 2009 is to learn some new stitches...all I know are the basics and I think I'm ready to move on. I love doing these scarves though. They are so easy. And I can work on the solid ones in the car...obviously when John is driving.

A Bib and a ANOTHER Blanket

I found some iron on patterns at http://www.sublimestitching.com/ and HAD to get a few. Here is the first creation using a couple of the patterns.

And yet another blanket. I'm done this time for sure...but I am trying to get some projects completed before Lyndon gets here.
Here's a pic of Kaiser with the blanket when I started it LAST YEAR.
And here is the completed project. In Lyndon's room...I figure he's got a couple blankets so I should get one too...so I can nap a little while he's napping.

Go Stars!

I finally finished Lyndon's Stars blanket. I only took it apart 3 times...and it's a lot bigger than I meant it to be....but I guess that means he'll just get to use it for a while. Kinda makes a good throw blanket actually. Don't mind the messy house in the background.

And heres a picture with the outfit John picked out.

a bag and a blanket

I'm finally posting pictures!

My sister came over a week (or so) ago and requested I make her a bag from a pattern she found on http://www.burdastyle.com/ it's the first time I've ever attempted to create anything with a pattern before. I think it worked out pretty well.
Photobucket
The stripes on the fabric gave me a little bit of a headache...so the next bag I do will be with a cherry fabric for me.

In other craft news...I finally finished a blanket for Lyndon. It may not look that complicated...but I tore it apart and restarted it so many times I lost count. Thankfully I'm finished now so I can start working on other things.

Next on my list of things to do: a second bag (as mentioned above) and finishing a Stars themed blanket for Lyndon/Daddy. The Stars blanket has only been pulled apart 3 times so far...I'm hoping that will be it!
