4th of July Crafty Recap

Wow, this is my 200th post! Sadly, I have nothing exciting planned. Maybe for my 250th!

I hope everyone had an amazing holiday weekend! We started it off by making amazing firework shirts for the boys. I love it when I can get my hubby to willingly craft with me!

Who knew sharpies and rubbing alcohol could create such a fun effect? Aparently Butterfly Jungle cause she has an awesome tutorial to make them: HERE. I'm a little terrified of washing them, they are in the dryer to set again.
I also made myself a shirt, using a tutorial I found over at tatertots and jello: HERE. It was really amazing how fast all the shirts came together! We will totally be making the fireworks shirts for the boys again next year and I will be sporting my awesome new flag tank! We also decided to try out this Red, White and Blue Sangria recipe. It was SO good. Slightly deadly though, I suggest small glasses. And of course Munch had a paint one of his masterpieces. We had a wonderful weekend with family and relaxing and fun. I was sad to see it end!

Carter BloodCare Blanket

Carter BloodCare goes to my husband's office regularly. Almost everytime they are there, he donates and each time he does he comes home with a new Carter BloodCare t-shirt. He used to wear them while he worked out, but he has since lost weight and they are HUGE on him. (I'm so proud.) Instead of donating the t-shirts I decided to reuse them.

We needed a beach blanket for our vacation, so I made one.
Here is the front:

and back:
and a fun one of Munch and I:

Munch LOVES the blanket. The t-shirts that Carter BloodCare so generously gives out are SUPER soft. Can't wait to use this blanket while sitting on the beach and after that while going on picnics. Thanks Carter BloodCare for ALL that you do!!

My Boys Monday - Two by Two

Got a chance to applique some shirts for the boys today. I LOVE this print all the animals are so fantastic. I really had a hard time choosing which ones to do. I went with elephants for Munch. Grasshoppers for Nox. And then cause I couldn't help myself I went made two more. A size 3-6 month Pelican. And two adorable walruses on a 6-9 month. The two extras will make their way to The Enchanted Artist soon. I'm still trying to figure out shipping details, but if you are interested in purchasing let me know by email or messaging me on Facebook. I'm hoping to be back tomorrow with more.

Sham Rock

I decided it was finally time to try out some freezer paper stencils. Not as scary as I thought, but the cutting took forever because I had to get everything perfect and I was so worried about screwing up. I didn't have the right color fabric paints so I just went with acrylic. The shirts are a little stiff, but it's not too bad and the shirts have been through the wash a couple times without any problems.

We got the chance to show the shirts off at NTIF this past weekend. It's always nice to overhear people say how "cool" they think your crafty projects turned out. :o)
I got the idea for these shirts from All the Small Things. I love how they turned out. Punkin Patterns has a great tutorial on freezer paper stenciling if you want to check it out: here.

My Boys Monday

I hope everyone had a WONDERFUL Thanksgiving and a great long weekend! I know we did! Turkey and left overs are pretty much eaten and the house is almost completely decked out for Christmas!
I found a great turkey t-shirt tutorial over at One more Moore and just had to make a couple for the boys.
Here they are being cute in their Turkey Day shirts :o)
I found this adorable tutorial over at she wears flowers. Totally thinking about making it for next year!
Today we are making our annual trip to see Santa. I really hope Munch behaves for pictures! Cross your fingers!!

Cowboys, A Hippo and a Squirrel

These have all been sitting nicely in my dining room, pinned and ready to be sewn for weeks. I finally sat down and finished them last week.
Munch, checking his new shirt for any flaws:
Apparently Mama did okay. :o)
Of course I had to complete one for Nox too!
The smaller picture is an applique I put on the back; Munch's shirt has the same thing.
My mother-in-law bought a TON of these little snap t-shirts when I had Munch. He didn't wear them all that much, mostly because I thought little white t-shirts were a little boring, even if they are practical. Also it was a little cooler in October than it is in August.
ANYWAY...I decided to spruce them up a little.
Below is an acorn squirrel using a template I found at The Long Thread.
And here the hippo shirt. :o) You may recognize it from the shirt and pants I made Munch. I'm thinking I might make a pair of pants for Nox too.
Not sure how much more I'll get done before Nox gets here...Probably just some cutting and pinning. Would be nice to have some projects ready and waiting to be completed.
In the meantime, check out my new button on the right! Joy at The Small Fry was sweet enough to make it for me as a "baby gift." How sweet is she? Anyway I love it and would be honored if you put it on your site!

Outfit for Munch and Baby Shower Gifts

Last week my sister-in-law and mother-in-law threw me a baby shower. Super sweet considering Nox is my second!
Had to make Munch an outfit for the occasion. I used the Big Butt Baby Pants Pattern again and made him a tie shirt to go with. He loves it, I promise...he was just ready to party!
We got some great handmade gifts...my favorite kind :o)
Alisha from Crandallation made me this cute newborn hat! Can't wait to model Nox in it!
She also made these adorable stroller tag toys! Aren't they fun?
Great-Grandma Bobby made Nox a cute little pillow and pillow case.
And this guy! She said we could name him whatever we wanted. Munch has decided that his name is "Guy". He keeps stealing Guy from the nursery though, so I think we might have to make another one!
Okay...a little closer to catching up now, but a lot more to come!! Including nursery items, a wreath and more! At least I've gotten all the pictures taken care of!

My Boys Monday - Tye Dye

I got it in my head that I wanted to tye-dye the sheets for the nursery...and I couldn't just do sheets....so last weekend we dyed a bunch of onesies and shirts.
And tested some different techniques, like stripes and spots.
An arrow head...which ended up being our favorite even though it looked more like a V.
Bull's Eyes were also fun to make. John made one for him too...when Nox gets here I'm totally taking pictures of the matching boys. :o)
And of course we couldn't forget the sheets!! The multi color is for Munch...we couldn't leave him out.
We left everything to soak in the dye overnight...for maximum vibrant colors. I totally want to tye-dye again in the future. I have a white sheet I want to cut down into half yards and dye for crafts and I really want to try some more sheets. If you try doing sheets just be warned...they use a TON of dye...buy extra!!

My Boys Monday

I actually made this last month...but until pretty recently I hadn't got any decent pictures. I've seen Tie-Shirts everywhere and kept thinking: "I'm positive I could do that." But as with most things it got put on my mental to-do list for later. Until I found this fabric...which I HAD to buy....
and a tie-shirt just seemed a perfect project for it. I did find a tutorial complete with pattern, here, but to be honest I didn't really like the sharp corners...my dad's ties always had soft rounded corners...so I made my own template and I just zig-zagged it directly onto the shirt...mostly because I didn't feel like taking out the iron.
It's not a neat job...because I didn't do the whole applique process and just sewed it on, BUT I love the end result. I'm going to try being lazy more often.

My Boys...Tuesday

I spent all day yesterday editing photos and this is the only decent picture I could find with the t-shirt I did for Munch. Sadly he has a binkie in his mouth...happily we lost it. :o)
Detail.
I used a hand embroidery pattern of a bicycling bunny that I found at Urban Threads. They have some REALLY awesome patterns in their store and a monthly freebie to try. Makes me desperately want a embroidery machine!
I was planning on doing an outline of the bunny but went with the circle instead so you could see the clouds on the fabric. Made it a lot easier!

My Boys Monday

A week or so ago I was hunting for a t-shirt in my growing stack to make something for Nugget...I was thinking bib or maybe fun diaper cover. Didn't find the right shirt for that project, but Munch did find something. He found Daddy's old Superman shirt and decided to run around the house with it.....so, I HAD to make a cape for him! I used this tutorial at Altered Art Junkies. It took about 5 minutes to make and about a week to get decent pictures.
It's hard to get the little man who is faster than a speeding bullet on camera!!
Superman, disguised as a record
Superman saves kittens!
This week I'm hoping to finish Nugget's quilt. Crossing fingers!!
