Good-bye January

I can't believe it's the end of January already. I feel like I haven't accomplished anything yet. Hopefully February will be a little different. The layout below is for our calendar, which starts in June. Originally it was March, because that's when we moved in together, but one year I was super lazy and got super behind. So now it's June :o)

Scrappy Saturday

I've got lots of requests to teach digi-scrapping to people, so I figured I would do a quick blog about it.
First: I use Adobe Photoshop Elements for all my digi pages.
Second: I'm broke so I can't really afford to buy any kits...as much as I would like to buy some. Therefore I stick to the millions of freebies out there. Here are just a few of my favorite digi freebie sites:
  • Craft Crave has a list of daily freebies
  • Two Peas in a Bucket has great free kits and fonts and great selection of digi stuff to buy if you are interested. You have to become a member to download, but membership is free.
  • Raspberry Road Designs has some beautiful freebies as well as items avalible for purchase in her shop.
  • RebeccaB Digiscrapper does lots of free and fantastic kits, wonderful for scrapping your kids.
  • I recently discovered TMF Scraps. She has some pretty freebies, but consider donating some money in thanks to help her pay for her hubby's medical expenses for leukemia.
  • Finally Angelica's digiscrap-blog is one of my favorites. She has some beautiful stuff that she offers, as well as some inspiring pages that she creates.

REMEMBER TO THANK ALL THE BLOGGERS THAT OFFER UP THEIR FANTASTIC ART WORK FOR FREE!! THEY LIKE THE PRAISE AND IT ENCOURAGES THEM TO CREATE MORE!

Lastly: I started digi scrapping with Scrapbook Flair. They still offer their digi scrapping software for free along with some free kits. The software is easy to use but doesn't allow for the freedom and creativity that Adobe does so I didn't use it for very long. There are some wonderful pages posted by members that I like to look through when I need inspiration.

Also I purchase my single pages through Scrapbook Flair's store: Scrapbooks Please. They are great quality pages and they often have sales for 99 cent 12x12 pages.

Hope this helps anyone that wanted to get started Digi-scrapping. I eventually would love to make my own kits, but need some more training on Adobe first.

HAPPY SCRAPPING!!!

Large Throw Pillow

I finally finished one of the two large throw pillows for my couch.

The second one is partially pinned...hopefully I can get it done today. It's going to look exactly the same as the one I've already finished so I figured I would go ahead and post it. I must say I really do love the fabrics.

Throw Pillows

I actually finished these about a week ago, but I've been slacking so much that I haven't posted till now. I made them based on a pattern I found over at Pink Chalk Studio. I made them envelope pillows for easy cleaning and possibly easy unstuffing of the pillow. I measured incorrectly and ended up making the covers just a little smaller than the actual pillow. You can only really tell if you look at the back so I may just leave them.
Next up larger throw pillows for my larger couch. I have the patterns cut...they just need to be ironed and sewn. Lets see how long this takes me.

Final Christmas Crafts

Finally getting around to posting my remaining Christmas Crafts.
Here is a bag I made for my Nascar loving Mother-in-Law, Kathy.
Here is the ornament I made and gave to the Grandparents and Auntie Ari. I didn't think about it until I had completed all of them...but I think next year I might try to make them into scented sachets.

And here is the mini digi page I did to use for the ornament above.

Finally here is the card wreath I made. All pretty and full with Christmas cards. I'm so glad I made it. It was really wonderful having something to display all my cards on so nicely.
My goal for this year is to have all my planned Christmas gifts done by September. I've already started my list, hopefully I can meet my goal!
