Wish List Wednesday

Really wanting the 2011 sewing calendar to ring in the new year. Can't seem to find it in stores though...so I'm ordering it on Friday. I loved having one last year, although I still have many of the items on my to do list.

Also I'm wishing for a New Year that is as happy as Cooper here seems to be.
This photo was taken by Molly Landreth and is avaliable at her etsy store: here.

My Boys Monday - Ornaments

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! Ours was pretty stressful, but in the end I think we all had fun. Munch got a little tired of opening presents, (because we have FIVE Christmases) so we still have some sitting under the tree.
During the month I actually managed to fit in one of the crafts from my list on will craft...tomorrow. Both boys "made" ornaments. One each for our tree and three extra sets for the Grandmothers.
Munch's Hand
Nox's Feet
I linked on my other blog, but here is the link again to the tutorial from the inkling network.

After making ornaments Munch insisted on painting...
And Nox was left with some very green feet!
This was such a fun craft to do with the boys and I love having their little paw prints on my tree!

I can't believe there is just one more week till Christmas!!
I still have LOTS of work to do...and very little time to finish it all!! Hope everyone is better organized than I am!

Wish List Wednesday

Thirty years ago today the world lost John Lennon. I was only 9 months at the time, but I grew up listening to him and I have always loved his music. I was going to create a treasury dedicated to him, but ran across this piece of art instead. SUZANNA ANNA has some really beautiful art in her shop...you should totally check it out.

This is a line from John Lennon's Imagine. I think it's just beautiful and would love it hanging in the blank space above my bed. Hubby John mentioned he would prefer our first dance song Pure Imagination, which sadly is not a John Lennon song, but much more romantic. Sorry Beatle John...Hubby John won this time ;o) Rest in Peace.

Also did I mention Hubby John wants US to make the piece of art to hang, using the above piece as inspiration? Ought to be an interesting project.

Good-Bye November and Wish List Wednesday

Good-bye November you were fun...welcome, stressful, event packed December. Thankfully the tree is up and seeing the lights twinkle calms me and makes me smile. November: Stamp Frame: Blessings by Meredith Cardall Designs, Green Double Frame: Harvest Spice by Shabby PrincessThankful word art: Thankful Blog Train by Rosey Posey StudioBackground: November 2009 Digital Freebie by Two Peas in a Bucket
On to my wish item for this week! I just LOVE these Advent Calendar Elves from Garnet Hill!
Aren't they cute? When I saw these I thought, "If I were really talented I bet I could make one of those." Then I laughed...cause I'm totally not that talented!
Speaking of making stuff, I started a new blog: will craft...tomorrow.
It's basically my to do list. My internet favorites list was about to explode all over the place and was making me cross-eyed. Listing all the tutorials I want to complete on a blog seemed like much more fun. I made it mostly for my sanity, so I won't be insulted if you don't visit it, but I figured I would share anyway, just in case you needed more to do. ;o)

My Boys Monday

I hope everyone had a WONDERFUL Thanksgiving and a great long weekend! I know we did! Turkey and left overs are pretty much eaten and the house is almost completely decked out for Christmas!
I found a great turkey t-shirt tutorial over at One more Moore and just had to make a couple for the boys.
Here they are being cute in their Turkey Day shirts :o)
I found this adorable tutorial over at she wears flowers. Totally thinking about making it for next year!
Today we are making our annual trip to see Santa. I really hope Munch behaves for pictures! Cross your fingers!!

Wish List Thursday

Wish List Thursday...cause Wish List Wednesday just wasn't going to happen.
Yesterday I was reading through some of my favorite blogs and stopped by Do You Mind If I Knit. In one of her recent entries she wrote about her vacation to Cornwall.
So yesterday I daydreamed about running away to stay in a little cottage in Cornwall for the holidays. Just me and my boys. While I daydreamed I made a little travel treasury.
So Santa, if you are listening, 4 passports, plane tickets and a cottage rental in Cornwall please. :o)

Pink

This past Sunday my sister completed the 3 Day Walk for the Cure. I am so proud of her, not only for raising $7000 with her team for a wonderful cause, but also for walking 60 miles!
We went to the closing ceremony to show her our support, so I had to do something for the boys. They are just iron-on's I printed off, but they came out pretty cute. Wish the pink had come out a little darker, but they looked good in person.
Real Men Wear Pink!!
My sister wanted to dress up for the walk so I made tu-tu's for all three girls.
Don't they look great?
I don't know if I will make another adult size tu-tu again! It was super easy, but it took a TON of tulle and a lot of time...kinda love the end result though.
Oh! And the basket was sold just days before the walk. Whoo Hoo!
I would love to be able to walk one year, but after starting back up on Spark People this week and starting to excercise again, I can say with certainty that I have a LONG way to go before I can walk 60 miles.

Wish List Wednesday - Sleep

I am operating on very little sleep right now. Tuesday morning started with a 4 am wake up call from Baby Nox, who also decided to try and boycot nap and bedtime. Last night I had a 2am wake up call, followed by another at 3:30am and another at 5am. Two of the wake up calls were my 2 year old, who was trying REALLY hard to have a party...that or practicing for tryouts for cirque du soleil, cause I swear when I went in to check on him he was 2 feet off his mattress.
So here are two things that I think all mothers should have:
An overly fantastic sleep mask...so that everyone will know that Mama needs some shut eye.
And a sweet smelling sleep pillow, to mask the odors of spit up and dirty diapers. Or you could just pretend you're taking a nap in a field of lavender. Sweet Dreams!!

Halloween Apron and a Yummy Treat

Months ago, I was in Joann's with my mother; we were looking through the clearance section for treasures and Mum spied some Halloween fabric. She promptly purchased the rest of the bolt and handed it to me and requested that I make it into an apron for her birthday.
I wouldn't have thought finding the perfect apron pattern would be so hard....but it was...ridiculously so. Then Dana at Made had a Celebrate Yellow Month and Delia Creates joined the party with a tutorial for her Pumps and Pearls Apron. The PERFECT apron for my mother. It was easy to make and I LOVE the style.
So super happy with how it turned out!
Making an apron inspired me to bake! Don't these Chocolate Chip Cookie Brownies look yummy?
Here is my mother modeling her new and fabulous Halloween apron and the fun kitchen towel I made her!

Next up: A special project just for my sister and her 3 Day Walk team and a little something for the season.

My Boys Monday

Nothing from me this week...except for the terrifying knowledge that Christmas is only two months away...and I'm already feeling disorganized and completely unprepared! Lots of presents to make...and very little time. Here are a couple things I would like to complete for the boys. I would love to make Munch this cozy car caddy from homemade by jill. She has lots of cute ideas on her site, including a car mat. Christmas next year, perhaps?
I love this car pillow by Noodlehead. Wouldn't it be perfect for Baby Nox? Maybe I'll add something that krinkles or a bell for added baby fun.
Any creative plans on your Christmas List? I would love to hear them!!

Activity Bag for Mama's Little Pirate

Munch celebrated his 2nd birthday last week and since we planned a pirate themed party for him I decided to make a couple pirate themed gifts.
First up I decided to make him an activity bag. Munch always seems to need something to do when we go out...especially when we decide to brave a restaurant. I got this pattern from One Yard Wonders. It's really the first pattern I've made from the book, which is pretty sad considering I've had the book for a year. I love all the patterns and have several on my to do list. However my list is about a mile long!
Then I made a cute crayon roll. Complete with Toy Story crayons...we've only lost one so far :o)
Of course I had to add a couple coloring books too!!
And it's a hit!! As long as he's got his activity bag, Sonic sunglasses and Mama's keys he's good to go!

3 Day Basket Collab with Crandallation

As I have mentioned previously my little sister is participating in the 3 Day Walk for the Cure. I'm SO super proud of her.
In hopes of raising a little money for the cause my best bud Alisha and I did a little collaboration and put together a girly gift basket. It will be sold at The Enchanted Artist and proceeds will go to The Pink Galas for 3 Day Walk for the Cure.
My additions are a bib, tag blanket, brag book and set of three burp cloths.

Here is the completed basket! To see a list of Crandallation's items check out her blog!
I want to thank every person walking for this cause and everyone who has made a contribution to help find a cure!!

Foto Friday - Look What I Can Make

Just thought I would add a quick post while I have a sleeping newborn and a behaving 23 month old. On August 30th I went into labor and had this little bundle. It was a super fast labor...I was in the hospital a short 4 hours before I delivered. My nurse had me breath through some of the last contractions just so my Dr. would make it to my room in time for the birth....My mother made it into the room on the last push!

I made him this cocoon for him from a knitting circle contraption I found in a stash of stuff from my aunt and the other day we had a little photo shoot.
And it took me almost 3 weeks but I finally finished the first page in Nox's baby scrapbook.

Cowboys, A Hippo and a Squirrel

These have all been sitting nicely in my dining room, pinned and ready to be sewn for weeks. I finally sat down and finished them last week.
Munch, checking his new shirt for any flaws:
Apparently Mama did okay. :o)
Of course I had to complete one for Nox too!
The smaller picture is an applique I put on the back; Munch's shirt has the same thing.
My mother-in-law bought a TON of these little snap t-shirts when I had Munch. He didn't wear them all that much, mostly because I thought little white t-shirts were a little boring, even if they are practical. Also it was a little cooler in October than it is in August.
ANYWAY...I decided to spruce them up a little.
Below is an acorn squirrel using a template I found at The Long Thread.
And here the hippo shirt. :o) You may recognize it from the shirt and pants I made Munch. I'm thinking I might make a pair of pants for Nox too.
Not sure how much more I'll get done before Nox gets here...Probably just some cutting and pinning. Would be nice to have some projects ready and waiting to be completed.
In the meantime, check out my new button on the right! Joy at The Small Fry was sweet enough to make it for me as a "baby gift." How sweet is she? Anyway I love it and would be honored if you put it on your site!

My Boys Monday - Bumpers and Mobile

All the stuff I was planning on making for the nursery got finished last week! It took me forever to figure out the mobile, but thankfully I ran across this tutorial over at Lolly Jane Boutique. I used Munch's old mobile and black and white pictures of Elvis, Chuck Berry, Bruce "The Boss" Springsteen and Jimmy Page. I also found some clip art of a record that fit perfectly over the music box and edited a cute little tape I found at Sj's Little Musings. Here is the close up.
Works well on 22 month olds, let's hope that it works just as well keeping a new baby entertained. :o) Also got the bumpers finished. I was a little worried about finishing these. I was thinking they were going to be a HUGE job. Thankfully the bumpers came with instructions on how to cover them, so I tweeked the instructions a little and they were finished in no time!
And that's it...just need to install the ceiling fan, put together a small shelving unit and we ordered a vinyl name sign for above the crib. Once that's complete I'll give you guys a full tour of the finished room...hopefully with baby included!!
