Scrappy Sunday: 3 Loves

I have been working on getting pictures organized for Happy's baby album this past week. Most of the book will be PL style which so far is working beautifully. However, there are always those stray pictures that just have to be in there, but can't really go on a PL spread all by their lonesome.

This is one of my favorite pictures and one of the very few of Happy and my sister (and my niece). It was a lucky snap with my phone and I'm so glad I captured it.
Created using: Piccadilly collaboration by Designers for Pixels and Co and Geocaching template by 2Paws Designs.

I'm loving the flow I have right now with Happy's book and hope I can go back and finish up Munch and Nox's books in the same style.

I'll Eat You Up

I haven't digi scrapped in a while, but I felt inspired by these pictures I took of Nox the other day. I've had this kit forever and while I have plenty of pictures that would work perfectly with it, I haven't done a thing with it until now.

Scrappy Sunday

Working on a little catch up with photos with PL and working in some Digi scrapping while I'm at it. I'm currently trying to finish up printing for June (I am WAY far behind, but totally okay with it, for the moment.)

This picture was taken on Father's Day and I had completely forgotten about it. Love how handsome my Munch is.

Scrappy Saturday

Ricki Jill with Art@Home commented on My Happy Thoughts post Tuesday and suggested that I scrap a photo. I LOVE getting suggestions on which photos to scrap. I sometimes will have John look through my pictures and pick one to challenge myself a little. So much fun to have a bloggy friend make a suggestion, Thanks Ricki!

I LOVE how this page turned out!

Project Life: Weeks 23 and 29

This morning, I finished Book 1 of 2012. Super excited. It runs from January to the end of July and it's done.  I thought about just posting all the pages I haven't so far, just to finish it off, but it would have been WAY to photo heavy. So I'll finish Book 1 up next week.

In case you are paying attention I skipped week 23. It took me forever to figure this layout out, cause I really had no pictures. It is actually the last week I completed. Completely out of order. Please excuse the photos, I wanted to get them taken before naptime ended and the lighting was not awesome.
week 23:

page one:
Not a whole heck of a lot this week. It was the week after our vacation to Galveston, so we were just trying to get back into the swing of things.

insert:
Yep...put an insert into a week of nothing. Just how it ended up working out. The insert is all about us painting, putting up lighting and getting my grandparent's dining room furniture. I have plans to add a couple of old family photos of us around the table, just as soon as I can find them.

page two:
After staring and staring at this week, wondering how to fill it (for weeks....seriously) I decided it would be nice to document my charm bracelet. I was able to make a full page spread; just on my collection. I'm glad I have it documented. Each charm means so much to me. As I add more, I'll document them too.

Week 29:

page one:
Completely forgot to even prepare a picture to print for 7.16, but it's in line to get printed now.
My little sister came over for a playdate and they all plugged in to their various devices. Munch drew a fantastic whale. Diana Gabaldon announced that her Outlander series would be made into a TV series. SO SO excited. We also had a visit from an insanely large spider. It spent the day OUTSIDE our dining room window. The boys were in love and named him Peter Parker. I was just fine when he left the next morning.

insert:
We spent our Friday at Grapevine Mills with my sister and Mum. Enjoyed lunch and the Rainforest Cafe, a trip to the Lego and Disney stores and a ride on the carousel. Such a fun day.

page two:
The boys fought ghosts and skeletons one morning. I'm pretty sure I have a couple of Winchesters in the making (and before you ask...NO, we do NOT let them watch Supernatural.) The boys also got much needed haircuts. I journaled on washi tape and I'm really not sure if I like it or not. It's pretty impossible to read. John and I celebrated our 10 years of being together.  Our friends had tried and tried to get us together and it finally happened.

I'll finish up sharing book one next week!

Scrappy Saturday

Just a couple pages I finished recently. Sometimes it's nice for me to step back from working on Project Life and scrap something else. Helps get the creative juices flowing.

Project Life: Week 28

I'm happy to report that I'm still making good progress....although I did get a little distracted during iNSD. Did anyone score any fun deals?

full spread:
This is the first week (I think) that I didn't number. Do you think I should add one, or just leave it?

page one:
The boys and I had breakfast with one of my best friends and her daughter, I won a kaboo bag and it came in the mail! Also girls night with my sister and cousin. I started mixing in the Cherry edition core kit I got from  a blog swap. I also used a stamped card...which is rare for me. I really need to use my stamps more and use them a little more creatively.

page one detail:
My favorite card on page one is my kaboo bag card. I painted during one of our painting sessions. I'm so happy I put it to use! I used an address label for the journaling.

page two:
went completely digital on this side. I included a couple recipes we tried this week. The sundried tomatoes were made using tomatoes from our own garden. The fruit for the cobbler was all from our local farmers market. The honey dew is also homegrown. It was a surprise in our veggie garden. We compost and this was an awesome gift from our compost bin.

page two detail:
I really love our collection of instagrams from our trip to the farmers market. It was such a fun day.

Project Life 2012: Week 27

I am SO SO SO close to finishing up all the photo printing for 2012. SO super excited. I can't wait to get it finished so I can focus on 2013. Once all the pictures are printed I'm hoping the pages will come together really quickly.

week 27 full spread:

page one:
This first page is all July 3rd. My sister came over and we made firework shirts for the boys. It was super fun to do. I might do them again this year and do a mini tutorial or something. Kaiser went to the vet and I ended our trip with a visit to Starbucks. The barista was super excited when I let Kaiser have a Puppy Mocha (just whipped cream in a small cup).

insert 1 side 1:
We had a pretty fantastic 4th of July. I went for a morning run  and then John's side of the family came over for pizza and some tiny fireworks.

insert 1 side 2:
Gigi came over after naptime for a BBQ. We had a great time just playing outside and talking. No fireworks this year. Next year for sure!

insert 2:
Some fun pictures of our usual goofiness on side one. On side two: the "depressed" pup, my new sewing machine...freaking LOVE her and a bowl of cherries...my favorite summertime snack. :o) Just realized there is a typo on my cherry picture, so I'll have to go back and fix that.

page 2:
Our art district has a free first Saturdays with arts and crafts for the kiddos, it's the first time we've been and it was SO much fun. I love when museums can be fun for the kiddos. We really need to make an effort to go again.

Project Life: Week 26

I did another simple spread this week. I didn't like it at first, but it's kind of grown on me.
It was a pretty normal week. We didn't do anything exciting, but it was nice.

page one:
The boys played INSIDE their water table. Kaiser looked sad and depressed...even though he's spoiled and extra loved. We had our trees cut and we went out for ice cream.

The stickers I used for the ice cream were from an old sticker day by day calendar. I was so excited when I found it in my stash.

page two:
The boys stamped with cookie cutters and dressed up as super heros. Nox was in a nesting stage. Right before naptime he used to make a nest in the middle of the floor for snuggles. John and I got a brunch date while the boys played in Gigi's sprinklers.

I love this sweet super hero photo. They really are my little heroes.

And here is the spread again...and one of my reasons for doing Project Life.

Project Life: Week 24

I hope you'll forgive my laziness this week. I'm going with phone pictures, cause it was just easier with Munch and the Noxman running around.

Week 24 - Page One:
This week featured the last day of swimming at my grandfather's house. We really miss having a private pool to go to.

Page Two:
1st dentist appointment for Munch, fun with Gigi, a clean house and Father's Day.

Favorite spots of the week:
An embroidery project I finished using my husband's grandmother's embroidery stash. So pleased with it.
Got John to journal a little for the dentist appointment. I figured it was fitting, since he took Munch. It's so wonderful to see his writing on the layout. I feel like it really makes the album OURS. I'm certainly going to have him journal more often.

The other day, Munch begged to paint. I love painting with the kids, not the clean up so much, but we all have fun. We always have some left over paint on our palettes so I decided to take advantage and we made some 3x4 filler cards.

Munch made the two on the bottom right. I LOVE getting my kiddos in on our album!

Last week Studio Calico was offering a little box of goodies. I've really wanted to get a monthly membership, but haven't been able to budget it in. Anyway, it was a little pricier than I would normally go for, but I did anyway, just to see if it was something I really did want in the future.
There are some really cute cards included and I can't wait to use them all. However, I don't think I'll be putting in an order again or if I do, I may order more product to make up for the flat fee shipping, cause lets be honest, they have some truly beautiful items.

This is for a more recent week, but I wanted to share it now. I created it using a free template Scrapping with Liz offered on her blog: HERE. I've always LOVED her templates for my digi pages so I was super excited to see had created a few sets of journaling/picture templates for Project Life.
Right now she's offering a buy one get one free deal on her templates, PLUS 20% off (until 3.28.2013). Totally took advantage of that and I really can't wait to put them to good use.

Scrappy Saturday

Lately, all the scrapping I've been doing has been for Project Life. Last night, I was editing some photos and got the urge to scrap a page. Journaling has never been my strong point and it was nice to create a page that didn't have to have any, because all my journaling going into my Project Life albums. Kinda made it stress free and fun.

Project Life: Week 22

Week 22 took me FOREVER. It was a full vacation week and I took well over 1000 photos, so cutting it down to fit in with my Project Life album was an insane task. It made me realize that I also have to get these photos into their own book. Hopefully sooner, rather than later!

week twenty-two:

page one:
It's so rare that I am able to get a good family photo of us so I thought that would be perfect for the title card. John and Munch found a hermit crab. Wild hermit crabs are the best. They come say hello, maybe hang out for a little while and then go happily back home. No crazy painted shells or plastic cages. Perfect. We celebrated our seven year anniversary in Galveston and took a nice sunset stroll along the beach. Love the shot of John and I that I took under the pier. It actually didn't turn out great, but the boys doing their own thing in the background seemed perfect.

insert one:
More beach photos. I enjoyed a sunrise run along the beach, one of my favorite things to do. John found a dime on the beach and we took it as a sign that my late grandmother was joining us for the morning.  Nox chased seagulls and the boys dug a beach bath....which they spent a HUGE chunk of their time in. Somehow that was much more fun than the ocean which was only a few feet away.

insert two:
Side one, was a nice morning on the beach. This is the first year in a very long time I felt comfortable having my picture taken in a bathing suit. A huge storm rolled in and we ended up driving around exploring the island. I'm SO glad we did, because we chanced upon the Starship Explorer making it's way to the Houston Space Center. We ended the day with pasta made using fresh gulf shrimp and then a trip to Murdochs to watch the boats on the water.
Side two was our trip to The Strand. It's mostly just shops, but we have fun walking around and there is an over-sized chess to play with. The highlight for me was the ice cream at the candy and ice cream parlor.

insert three:
Phew, not sure I've used THREE inserts in a week yet! After our day at The Strand, we spent our evening on the beach. It's really a wonderful time to go. The beach is almost empty and the kids can just run wild and splash in the pools left by low tide. It's such a magical moment.
Side two was our last day at the beach. We found another hermit crab and said hello. Nox fell asleep in my arms as we strolled down the beach and once we got home everyone was ready for a nap.

page two:
I took some time in the morning to take one last stroll along the beach. On some vacations you feel that the end has come and you are almost happy to be heading home. We have been to Galveston twice and I have yet to feel that way. My boys are obviously tired and ready for their own beds, but I have this crazy wish to just stay forever. I really love it there.
We stopped at Kemah on our way home and were lucky enough to decide on a restaurant with outdoor seating and a view of the water. The boys had SO much fun watching the boats go by.

I am so happy I finally got our vacation recorded. Makes me really want to get a photo book organized with the rest of the photos.
