Skinny Saturday

Starting Weight: 223
Current Weight: 143
Total Lost: 80

Ugh. This past week or so has been kinda rough. I'm having some major problems coming up with any kind of motivation. I actually started writing this post yesterday and never got past the first sentence.

I bought new fancy sneaks last Friday...went for a run and by 1.5 miles, my feet were completely numb and in pain. I ran/hobbled my way home. Sunday I returned the shoes and bought new ones, that aren't as narrow. They are still in a box :o/

I was doing good with hydration...until Thursday, when I kinda just gave up...

NOT GOOD. NEED to work on motivating myself.

Need to get back on the right track....and MOVE.

I need to remember why this is important....why I am doing it.

Today: Hydration. Tomorrow: Get out and test those new sneaks!!

How do you find motivation?

Something for Me: Simple Shirt

I decided that it really is time that I started making more stuff for myself. Just simple easy stuff, cause that is really all I have time for, but something. I also REALLY need to start using more fabric in my stash.

I found a super easy tutorial for a pretty shirt over at A Beautiful Mess. Then I sorted through my insane amount of fabric and found a yard of pretty, red, patterned cotton that I had purchased with my buddy Alisha of Crandallation. A yard turned out to be the perfect amount to make this super easy and comfy shirt.

Bonus? It looks cute under a cardi. Perfect for Texas winters and springs when the weather can't really figure out what it's doing.

I hope I get a chance to make a couple more of these to bring on our family vacation in May.

Fitness Friday: Week 11

Starting Weight: 223
Current Weight: 143
Total Pounds Lost: 80

I have been an awful blogger lately. I feel like it's because I've been really busy, but if I think about it I really haven't been THAT busy. I do have a LOT to do, but I've been dragging my feet a little more than I should.

I basically restarted C25K this week. I haven't been getting out as much as I should, because of the weather...and when the weather is nice I'm in the garden working. I need to get back in gear though. Hence starting fresh. It actually feels really good.

I also need to start fitting yoga back in to my day. I miss it so much. My time management lately has been AWFUL.

So far today has been pretty good. My sister came by and took the boys to the park so I could have some time to myself. I took care of some of the ivy growing in my front flower beds and worked on a large super special order for my sister's wedding. :o)

In other slightly fitness related news: My hubby bought me this adorable running charm from James Avery:
Super sweet, cause he didn't even know it was on my list!

He also bought me a subscription to Runner's World, which I've wanted for awhile. The articles are really great and reading it usually gives me a boost in motivation.

Hope everyone has a happy and healthy week!

Fitness Friday - Week 10

Original Starting Weight: 223
Last Weigh In: 143
Current Weight: 143
Pounds lost since last weight in: 0
 Total Pounds Lost: 80
So, I have a confession, I didn't actually weigh myself this week. It was my birthday yesterday and I believe that calories don't count and pounds don't even exist on birthdays. So I'm putting them up there, but ignoring them.
The weather is crap here...so I did not do the run/walk/jog of the green belt by our house. As soon as I get a nice day that my hubby is home, I'm doing it and I'll take lots of pictures. :o)
On Sunday I took a hike with my little sister. We talked about my weight and I mentioned how I am so proud of how far I have come. I also talked about how I wouldn't cry if I lost more weight, but I was happy where I was. I love walking into a store and knowing that a size 8 is going to fit. I love that I'm usually a size medium on top, but sometimes I get the thrill of finding a nice size small.
The days of hunting for decent looking size 22 are over. I will NEVER again be a size XXL. I won't EVER again tear apart my closet in tears because NOTHING fits.
I talk about weight and sizes but that really isn't what it's about. I really believe that as long as you are healthy and comfortable with the person in the mirror, then you go girl! It shows. Healthy and happy people have a glow to them. I was NOT happy OR healthy. Eighty pounds ago, I hated even passing a mirror. I felt like EVERYTHING I put on was tight, even if it wasn't. My feet and back hurt all the time. My real moment of realization was when Munch started to crawl and REALLY become mobile. I got so tired and out of breath chasing him around. It had to stop.
This week I needed to clear out some storage on my computer and was going through photos. I was shocked at some of the pictures I found. I guess I had just blocked the girl I was out of my head. I didn't want to remember, even though it's important to remember. So, I decided to put together some before and after pictures.
Eighty pounds later....
... my feet don't hurt all the time and my back has stopped aching...
...I don't always love the girl in the mirror, but I'm usually at least okay with her...
...I not only feel younger, I like to think I look it...

...I still can't completely keep up with my kiddos, but I don't give up after the first five minutes...sometimes, I even manage to wear THEM out too.

Have a happy and healthy week!!

Lucky Wreath

I don't usually decorate a whole bunch for St. Patrick's Day, but I found this pattern for crocheted shamrocks and couldn't resist.

I wrapped a dollar store wreath with some hemp rope I had, stuck the shamrocks on and voila a lucky wreath!

Here is a detailed picture:
I've got a few extras...so I'm thinking I'll make up a couple pins. Any other ideas?

Fitness Friday - Week 9

Original Starting Weight: 223
Last Weigh In: 143
Current Weight: 143
Pounds lost since last weight in: 0
Total Pounds Lost: 80

Holding steady.

Another glorious week here. Got a couple walks in and a run. Mostly, I've been in the garden. There seems to be more work to do every time I go out there. My muscles are sore from pulling ivy and ground cover roots. The mulch was packed down about a foot thick so I've been trying to clear that out too. I am pretty sure the previous owners were trying to breed rocks.
For some reason I really enjoy it though. Soon I should have enough cleared to plant flowers.

Hopefully next week I'll have something more interesting to report!

If you are having the weather we are in Texas, ENJOY IT!! Have a happy and healthy week.
