New Dress for a Night on the Town

The other night we went to visit my sister in Dallas to celebrate my husband's birthday. I didn't really have anything to wear so I decided to whip up a Caftan dress using THIS tutorial over at Simple Simon & Co. The dress came together in under an hour and it was really comfy.

Sadly, we didn't get a full length picture of it.

But, we had a great time...
and that's all that matters.

Kaboo Bag. I'm in Love

The last week of June Brassy Apple had a giveaway for Kaboo bags. I've wanted one of these for a while now. Sadly, they haven't exactly been in budget. When I saw the giveaway I jumped at the chance to enter. I actually screamed when I received an email telling me I had won!
Even Munch was excited when I got the package!
Look how pretty she is! She's full of fantastic pockets, including a special one for a tablet...which I don't own, but am now thinking I should. It's also big enough to hold my DSLR, my massive wallet, a couple diapers/wipes, my phone...the list goes on. I'll have to do a whole post dedicated to the contents of my new love.
Bonus!! Joplin got a new bed.

I brought her (the bag, NOT the cat) to girl's night the other night, but I didn't use her to her full potential so I'll take an interior picture soon.

I love winning things. Thanks Brassy Apple and Kaboo!

Beach Cover-up

When I found THIS tutorial over at la vie en rose I had to try it.

It was super easy to make and it was comfy.
However, I think I made it a tad too small and it kinda moved into an odd position if I walked more than a block in it. SO...it got worn once. I'll try again when I get it a little closer to my goal weight. It was nice to finally get a pinned item crossed off my ever growing list.

Something for Me: Simple Shirt

I decided that it really is time that I started making more stuff for myself. Just simple easy stuff, cause that is really all I have time for, but something. I also REALLY need to start using more fabric in my stash.

I found a super easy tutorial for a pretty shirt over at A Beautiful Mess. Then I sorted through my insane amount of fabric and found a yard of pretty, red, patterned cotton that I had purchased with my buddy Alisha of Crandallation. A yard turned out to be the perfect amount to make this super easy and comfy shirt.

Bonus? It looks cute under a cardi. Perfect for Texas winters and springs when the weather can't really figure out what it's doing.

I hope I get a chance to make a couple more of these to bring on our family vacation in May.
