Origami

My hubby declared yesterday National Origami Day...so that is pretty much what we did while Lyndon was napping.

I made a few envelopes...which are the perfect size for gift cards.

I made a tiny puppy pop up card :o) I should have taken the picture with a quarter or something...because that's seriously how big the thing is.

Here's a boat. Which was pretty easy...except you had to turn the paper inside out. I don't know how, but I managed to do that without ripping the paper.

This isn't exactly how it looked in the instructions, but I think my snake turned out pretty well. I made it for Lyndon. We have a stack of cards with photos of animals and the cobra is his favorite.

I had to make a crane, because it's such a traditional origami fold.

My favorite was this goldfish fold I found. They are SO much fun. I might make a mobile of them or something. They are kind of top heavy so they don't stand up well.
That's really all the crafting I've done since having Lyndon. During his naps I'm so busy cleaning or getting ready for Christmas that I really haven't done anything else. Hopefully after the holidays.

Look What I Can Do!

This is more than a week overdue...but better late than never!
Lyndon Charles was born Tuesday, October, 14 2008 at 4:25 pm
He was 8 lbs 11 oz and 21 inches long.
Lyndon is a really good baby and we are so proud to have him as part of our family.

Crafting will be put on hold until I can figure out how to be Mama and Cerise. I'm learning slowly but surely. I hope to at least have a site with pictures up by the end of the week. There are SO many to go through!!

Two New Stitches

I was told by my doctor to stay off my feet for a couple days...so I had lots of time on the couch. To keep the boredom from completely getting to me I decided to learn a couple new crochet stitches.

The first is a Cable Stitch.

Which I think I want to try as a blanket...

The next stitch is a Simple Net Ground.

I actually have some pretty brown and bronze yard that I think I'll make a shawl out of when I get the chance.

So many projects....so little time.....

Old Scarves, New Scarf

The pictures seem a little dark...but oh well...here are my scarves...not all of them, but a few.

Monet

NYC

Kristan (my newest creation)

The last one was the hardest. Not the stitch...just the switching of colors. One of my goals for 2009 is to learn some new stitches...all I know are the basics and I think I'm ready to move on. I love doing these scarves though. They are so easy. And I can work on the solid ones in the car...obviously when John is driving.

2 Months of Belly

My 8 month page...FINALLY finished.

Created using: Bohemian Summer Kit by Michelle Coleman

And my 9 month page. I don't really see much of a difference in the belly between 8 and 9 months...but I could be wrong.

A Bib and a ANOTHER Blanket

I found some iron on patterns at http://www.sublimestitching.com/ and HAD to get a few. Here is the first creation using a couple of the patterns.

And yet another blanket. I'm done this time for sure...but I am trying to get some projects completed before Lyndon gets here.
Here's a pic of Kaiser with the blanket when I started it LAST YEAR.
And here is the completed project. In Lyndon's room...I figure he's got a couple blankets so I should get one too...so I can nap a little while he's napping.

Pregnancy Buddies

Another Digi-page to fill the void between crafts. J-Jo actually went on bed rest this week...she could have Jr. anytime now!! I have to admit I am a little jealous.

All You Need Is Love

I found this fabric at Wal-Mart and HAD to get it.

This past weekend I finally got around to making some pants for Lyndon. It was actually surprisingly easy!

I added an applique to a onesie...

And Volia!! Ended up with this cute outfit...I just hope my son-to-be likes The Beatles as much as his Mama.

I will probably need to hem the pants some and tighten the elastic on the waist...but that can wait till he's here....or until next weekend...whenever I feel the urge I guess. For my first item of clothing I think they turned out pretty darn cute! I have a little over a yard of the fabric left...maybe I'll make something for me!

Life is like a bag with cherries.

I finished my cherry bag. It didn't come out like the first bag...because I tried to add a lining and screwed up...but it all worked out.

I put a pocket on the inside for fun...

and here is the blurry but finished interior.

I think I like the "screwed-up" version better.

Go Stars!

I finally finished Lyndon's Stars blanket. I only took it apart 3 times...and it's a lot bigger than I meant it to be....but I guess that means he'll just get to use it for a while. Kinda makes a good throw blanket actually. Don't mind the messy house in the background.

And heres a picture with the outfit John picked out.

Belly Pics

Alisha asked if I was taking pictures of my belly so I thought I would share one of my digi-pages. I do all my pages using Adobe Photoshop and the free kits I find. This particular one is done using:
Grow Tag - Mary Mary Quite Contrary - Two Peas in a Bucket
Background and all other embelishments - Blossom Kit by Art Nation

I might start posting more pages in between actual crafts...after all it is a form of crafting...kinda.

Space Dinosaur

I found white bibs at Babies R Us...and decided to decorate. So here is what I've done so far.
Add Video

The directions on the bib said no ironing...but my iron on transfers required it...so I tried and it seemed to work out. No damage that I can see. The words I did on my own. I think they turned out pretty well...even if I do say so myself.
The bibs came in a pack of ten...so I'm sure I'll have eight more to show off at some point.

a bag and a blanket

I'm finally posting pictures!

My sister came over a week (or so) ago and requested I make her a bag from a pattern she found on http://www.burdastyle.com/ it's the first time I've ever attempted to create anything with a pattern before. I think it worked out pretty well.
Photobucket
The stripes on the fabric gave me a little bit of a headache...so the next bag I do will be with a cherry fabric for me.

In other craft news...I finally finished a blanket for Lyndon. It may not look that complicated...but I tore it apart and restarted it so many times I lost count. Thankfully I'm finished now so I can start working on other things.
Photobucket
Next on my list of things to do: a second bag (as mentioned above) and finishing a Stars themed blanket for Lyndon/Daddy. The Stars blanket has only been pulled apart 3 times so far...I'm hoping that will be it!
