Project Life: Weeks 15 and 16

Late post tonight, but I'm getting it in! Gonna make it quick so I can go to bed. :o)

Week 15:

Page 1:

This week Nox told me "I Love You" for the first time. Munch took FOREVER to say "I love you", even longer to say it to me. So I was really excited when Nox told me first :o)

Page 2:
Nox got his suit for my sisters wedding in and was so proud of it. He really looked adorable. I finished the ring bearer pillow and a large stack of tissue holders for the wedding. I really loved how the pillow turned out.

Week 16:

Week 16 Page 1:
Pretty routine stuff, took a walk, goofed off at home and the dollar store. Love the last picture. We were being really silly together before I left for the weekend and I'm so happy I got this shot of the boys.
Week 16 insert:
My little sister's bachelorette. It was just the bridal party the first night and next morning/afternoon. We really had a great time together.

Week 16 Page 2:
More bachelorette party. 2nd night with all the girls. I included the invite and some little purple flowers that we scattered around the room. I had fun, but was so happy to get back home to my boys for a snuggle and a long nap.

It's Looking a Little Like Christmas

The tree is up and ready to decorate and the boxes have been dug out so we can prepare for Christmas.
A couple weeks ago my wonderful sister took some amazing family photos of us. She wrote about it over on her blog Lavender + Pink. She's not a professional, but I just love how well she captured our family.
We got the edited pictures back just in time for me to get these terrific cards from Shutterfly.

I cannot wait to get them back and send them out.

Project Life Weeks 13 and 14

I thought I was taking these pictures at a great time...in a great place. Not so much, the pictures are a little darker than I would like, but I'm making do.

Week 13:

 Page 1:
I love the sharing yogurt pictures in the top corner...they aren't anything amazing to look at, but it was SUCH a sweet moment between the boys. Gotta love it when they share. This week my hubby cooked Agave Mashed Sweet Potatoes. They were really yummy so I went ahead and made a recipe card. I need to get a photo album to put my recipe card duplicates that I made to keep in the kitchen.

Page 2:
The Texas Bluebonnets were in full bloom this week so we had to go take pictures. I got some really great pictures, but I think I finally learned, that instead of making the kids pose for each picture I should just go with it...a whole lot less stressful.

Week 14 with an insert:

Page 1:
This week there were a bunch of tornadoes that touched down in our area, including one that hit a few blocks away. Thankfully, our home was untouched. I did include some pictures that my husbands coworker shared.

insert:
This was our very first egg decorating. Munch LOVED it. Lennox pitched a fit and ended up in bed early.

Page 2:
Easter Sunday. It was such a nice, lovely day. The boys got TWO baskets and loved hunting for eggs.

I thought I would also share a freebie I found this morning. Vioscrap created a A4 size album and generously shared the templates for it.
I used a couple today getting more pages ready and they crop really nicely to 4x6.

Thankful Tree

I've seen the idea of a Thankful Tree around a lot this month and I really loved the idea, so I went with it. Plus, it's a great excuse to leave my Halloween tree up...now it can transition from Halloween, to Thanksgiving and then Christmas. Yay! I love having it up.

I had a Groupon for Vistaprint last month and had a few extra dollars to spend, so I decided to make these.
They are personalized business cards and start at 5.99 for 25. I ordered 50 and have been writing little notes on what I'm thankful for every day.

I used clothes pins to attach them to my tree. (Which Nox LOVES pulling down, so I may have to rethink that next year.)

Munch helped by adding some finishing touches.
He's been collecting leaves lately and we finally decided to do some leaf rubbings, nothing special just lined paper, crayons and cut out and placed on the tree.

Then, Munch has been bugging me to let him use scissors...and I FINALLY let him. He drew some fantastic leaves on blue and orange construction paper and he helped me cut them out to make ornaments.

We LOVE our tree and Munch is really proud of himself for helping me SO much with it.

Thankful Thursday

Today I am thankful for:

My sweet wonderful boys.
I am thankful for two healthy pregnancies, complication free births and two healthy, beautiful babies.

I am thankful, that while they don't always get along, they ALWAYS love each other.

I love the way they can make me laugh.

I love the out of the blue cuddles and "I Love Yous"

I am so thankful that my eldest considers me one of his best friends.

I am thankful that having this guy in my life, flipped a switch.  Because of him I decided I had to start being healthy and lose all the weight I had gained in my twenties. 80 pounds worth. He is my hero.

They both are.

Project Life

Well...I got nothing for ya this week. My Shutterfly order didn't come in until super late today...so meh. Next week I'll be completely back on track.
I DO have a question though...where do you get your prints from?
I usually order from CVS, but found that the prints were getting darker and darker...and then this recent order from Shutterfly the pictures were 4 by not quite 6...just enough off to annoy me.

And because I feel guilty not leaving you with ANYTHING...here are a few pictures from my week:
the best cupcakes ever from my lovely auntie mk

the munchman and k-dog enjoying a snuggle

poor little nox had a fever on wednesday. thankfully it was a 24 hour bug.

we had faux thanksgiving leftover pies. scrummy. i think every day should be thanksgiving...or we should at least have the leftovers.

munch had a lot of fun collecting leaves...they just started turning here.

Thankful Thursday

Today I am thankful for:

This guy.
This guy, is my best friend.
He is a wonderful father to our two adorable boys.
He puts up with my crazy moods and sometimes can even snap me out of them.
He takes care of me when I'm sick, even though I might be one of the worst people to take care of.
He is my rock, my anchor.
He works hard to provide for our family.
He makes me feel loved, not matter what.
He makes me laugh.
He is my love.

Project Life: Week 12

Just one week, this time. I took advantage of Shutterfly's 101 free prints over Halloween, I didn't get all 101 prints together in time, but I am waiting on 4 weeks worth of photos, so I'm excited about that!
This week as I was going through my old emails, I found one I had written to my mother and sister, the first day Nox had said "I Love You." I had missed writing it in his baby book and would have completely missed it if I hadn't decided to start Project Life and play catch up from the beginning of the year. I adore this project and I am SO SO happy to have started it.

Week 12:

Page 1:
It rained a lot on our first week of spring. So much, that our back yard flooded and looked more like a pond. Munch promptly named it Lake Bubbles, because of the bubbles the rain formed on the water.

Page 2:
The bottom left is of Munch making an "L" for his name. He was super proud to have figured it out...and I was pleasantly surprised that a phone picture printed so well into a 4x6. The right side is all Nox's first haircut. We got curls to save and a cute first haircut mat/frame, but those will go in his baby album.
Another fun thing about doing PL is having my kiddos help me. Munch was SO excited when I asked him to pick out the stickers for my Silly Couch Monsters card. He loves pointing out stuff that HE has done in the album.

Christmas Ideas: Felt Ornament Round Up

While packing up my Halloween Tree (I'm a tad bit crazy when it comes to Halloween) it became fairly obvious that for Christmas ornaments had to be VERY kid friendly. I think my 2 year old would build a tree house and move into our tree if he could shrink to the right size. He also has ZERO clue about how to be gentle with my ornaments.

So this year we will be putting only unbreakable ornaments on our trees and what is more kid friendly than felt? I've been looking around and there are a million felt ornament tutorials out there. Here are some of my favorites.
(above photo collage created using photo mat by scrapping with liz)

1. Simple Christmas Felt Ornaments from Cards by Paula
2. Felt State Ornaments from In Between Laundry
3. Felt Lights from Wild Olive
4. Mommy and Baby Owl from The Vintage Umbrella
5. Felt Christmas Tree Ornaments from Bugs and Fishes
6. Winter House from Bits and Bobs
7. Holly Leaves from Bugs and Fishes
8. The Stable from Wild Olive
9. Polaroid Ornaments from Sew Mama Sew

Now is the perfect time to start on getting some of these done. I love the idea of maybe putting pieces of the boys past Christmas outfits into the polaroid ornaments...would be cute right?

How do you make your tree more kid friendly?

Our Halloween

I hope everyone had a wonderful Halloween! The boys had a great time.
Munch was a skeleton and Nox was the devil. It was really funny watching people react to Nox. Almost everyone said "Oh! A skeleton....and a devil?" Like it was some awful taboo thing...
unless the house was completely decked out and then people seemed excited that two such "scary" characters had showed up at their doorstep.

Where do people go on Halloween? When I was a kid we started almost right after school and stopped well after the sun went down. Every house was lit up and hoards of children filled the sidewalk.
Our neighborhood isn't like that. Most of the houses were dark and there were only a few pockets of kids, but we were determined to take the boys out.

The lack of trick or treaters did make for some good trick or treating though. At some houses the boys were given handfuls of candy. Nox actually got extra candy at one house because the lady thought his "Thank You" was so cute.
Somehow we managed to end our Halloween without a massive sugar high. We looked through our hoard, removed the stuff that would be too hard on little teeth and each had a couple pieces before heading to bed.

I am linking up with The Mom Creative. Go check out the other cute Trick or Treaters that were out this Halloween!
